Dear members of the campus community,

We write to keep students, faculty, and staff informed of Lehigh’s travel policy throughout the semester.

Please note that university trips require authorization and are still limited. For all travel, including personal travel, Lehigh’s return to campus / work will be in compliance with the policies and guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Health (PA DOH) and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC) and Prevention. In some cases there may be additional Lehigh-specific requirements.

Read the specific travel requirements for students, faculty, and staff below. These are subject to change as terms and policies change. Updates should be followed. Please also note that the quarantine requirements for travel are different from the quarantine requirements for those who have come into close contact with someone who has tested positive for COVID-19. Always follow medical instructions in these cases.

For students-

During the semester, students who have arrived on campus or in Bethlehem and have completed the arrival test and quarantine should only leave the Bethlehem area in an emergency as this will reduce the risk of infection and transmission of the coronavirus. This includes traveling home to visit family and friends, especially to other university campuses or for related social activities. If they have to travel, students should follow the revised Travel / Return to Campus Policy, updated February 2, 2021. This protocol has been updated for spring and differs from the requirements previously communicated. So read them carefully. This policy applies specifically to off-campus travel. Late arrivals should follow full arrival test and quarantine process when you first arrive in Bethlehem.

For faculty and staff

Study trips must be approved by the Dean, Vice President or Provost. To the all travelLehigh requires that faculty and staff leaving Pennsylvania quarantine Pennsylvania for 14 days after their return or take a COVID-19 test shortly before or after their return to Pennsylvania. For the latter, employees who demonstrate a negative test result only need to be quarantined until they receive their negative result. These requirements do not apply to people commuting to and from another country for work or medical treatment.
