MINOT, ND – North Dakota fell nearly 19 million visitors.

This is just one of the statistics featured in the 2020 Tourism Report.

It also showed a decrease in visitor spending in the state of about half a billion dollars over the past year. A drop of nearly 32% that also adds up to hundreds of millions of dollars in taxes.

“Of course people just didn’t move around during the pandemic and now we are seeing the numbers getting closer to where they were. We have really seen some growth: people are only interested in new places and they are interested in places where they feel safe, ”said Sara Otte Coleman, Tourism Director.

The state saw an approximately 50% decrease in air travel and a 77% loss in Canadian border crossings.
