Five alarm fires damaged the Cape Cod hotel ahead of the busy summer season

DAMAGE IS EXTENSIVE. The fire extended into the attic from the first floor to the second floor. As a pharmacist who grew up in the hotel, there was also danger. YOU MAY REACH FIVE ALARMS AND BRING IN 50 FIGHTERS FROM 10 DEPARTMENTS. The roof went up in flames and we saw a cave inside. >> Rain and wind didn’t help. The wind blew smoke everywhere. WE CANNOT SEE THE ROAD AT SINGLE POINT. REPORTER: THAT IS CERTAINLY NOT THE BUSY SEASON BUT THE HOTEL HAS GUESTS. This visitor from Peru had to evacuate an hour after checking in. >> WE SAW THE SMOKE. We asked the housekeeping people. THEY SAID TO TAKE YOUR STAFF AND LEAVE THE HOTEL. REPORTER: HE’S NOT ALONE. MISCELLANEOUS THAT SEVERAL OTHER GUESTS LEFT SUNDAY EVENING AFTER MAKING OTHER PLANS. It has a number of wins. ONLY ONE WAS AFFECTED BY THE FIRE. AS A SEPARATE BUILDING TO THE SOUTH. THIS BUILDING WAS NOT AFFECTED. >> This is the last thing this place needs after COVID-19 because we were basically closed last year. So it’s a shame. REPORTER: The fire chief says this is the third time in decades that this hotel has had multiple alarms
