Rangnick comments on Martials Man Utd’s future amid exit talks

Anthony Martial made his exit plan clear Manchester united boss Ralf Rangnick.

The Frenchman is in his seventh year at Old Trafford but has not been able to establish himself as many expected.

Signed for what was then a world record fee as a teenager, Martial failed to deliver after hitting against on his debut Liverpool.

United have a multitude of attack options and the Frenchman, who fought for minutes, has decided that his future lies elsewhere.

A mid-season exit can be difficult to negotiate, which Rangnick has made clear, but if an agreement can be reached, an exit might be possible.

The German said: “We talked for a long time. He explained to me that he has been with Manchester United for seven years now and he feels that the time is right for a change to go elsewhere.

Anthony Martial has his sights set on moving elsewhere

“I think that’s understandable, I could follow his thoughts, but on the other hand it’s also important to see the club’s situation.

“We have Covid times, we have three competitions in which we still have high ambitions and we want to be as successful as possible.

“I told him ‘Listen, as long as no club shows interest in him’ [he will stay]’and it should not only be in the interests of the player, but also in the interests of the club. “

Despite the inconsistent form of Martial, there would still be plenty of prospects.

Lyon

The French continue to look for a replacement for Memphis Depay after his summer exit.

The Dutchman was a major goalscorer and in his absence no Lyon player has scored more than four goals in Ligue 1.

Martial did well as a teenager in the French league with Monaco and when he was in shape he was successful in England.

Moving back home to the club he started as a youth could help calm the striker, whose mentality has long been a problem when floating in and out of games.

A move to the Groupama stadium could please both parties as the goal-shy team tries to strengthen their strikers’ line.

Seville

The Spanish team are among those most closely associated with the wanton star.

Sevilla would regularly provide Martial with European football, albeit perhaps more in the Europa League than in the Champions League.

The La Liga outfit would also allow the striker to play a leading role, something he couldn’t take on during his Old Trafford career.

Seville is facing a growing interest in Youssef En-Nesyri, with arsenal among his admirers.

If eliminated, Martial can be seen as the ready made replacement.

Money is something the magpies don’t have to worry about, although the descent is certain.

Newcastle must strengthen their ranks in the new year to keep their Premier League Status.

Martials United teammate Jesse Lingard was touted as a new addition, but catching the French yourself would be a big coup.

There is over-reliance on Callum Wilson to develop the goods at St. James’ Park so adding another striker would increase their chances.

Fans in the northeast love to idolize a striker and Martial could take on that role if he chooses to stay in the Premier League.

Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang could both leave the Gunners

Another Premier League club is looking for a striker.

United may loathe selling to a direct rival who could still overtake them in the top four races.

Martial’s desire to leave may be too great, however, as Mikel Arteta faces great uncertainty about his own forward options.

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette could both be eliminated in the next six months and the Gunners easily attacked.

Arsenal’s young squad could be enough to give Martial some fresh impetus and he would certainly be the man to lead the line with little competition.

The romantic move. Martial left the principality in 2015 for a mammoth fee.

He only gave a glimpse of what he could do before a big club called, but with plans to revitalize his career a return to Monaco might be appropriate.

The French club have seen their best players search for new paths many times, but Martial’s desire to leave could lead them to recapture a man who could still be an important player.

At 26, the Frenchman can still reach his potential and his former team could be tempted if the price is right.
