GRAND RAPIDS, MI – According to data, five Michigan destinations are among the best weekend getaways in the Midwest US News & World Report.

Based on an analysis of expert and user opinions, the list includes locations in the 12 states that make up the US region for its kind people, planted with fields, lush forests, and large lakes.

The US news considered factors such as restaurants, opportunities for adventure, and value to determine the best weekend getaways in the Midwest.

“The agricultural areas throughout the American heartland are small river towns and sprawling metropolitan areas that offer myriad destinations for weekend warriors,” the report said.

Michigan destinations that made the cut include Ann Arbor (# 2), Traverse City (# 8), Grand Rapids (# 17), Detroit (# 23), and Mackinac Island (# 27) ).

Highlights pointed out by US News and World Report include the Big House, Zingerman’s Deli, Michigan’s Wine Country, Sleeping Bear Dunes, Meijer Gardens, Fox Theater, Comerica Park, Ford Field, Grand Hotel and of course Fudge.
