Stay and play – one phone call does everything

For over 10 years the Penn Ohio Golf Trail has offered unique and affordable stay and golf packages to its guests. New golf courses and accommodations have been added each year. However, in the past three years, 54 golf courses in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania, five villas, 20 hotels in various locations across the road, and an unparalleled golfing experience have been offered by other Stay and Play packages. The Penn Ohio Golf Trail offers monthly package deals, a wide variety of accommodations and golf courses, and a variety of areas to explore.

Mansions

The trail is characterized by accommodating groups of two to 36 golfers in one house. The historical mansions are equipped with large screen televisions, pool tables, poker tables, and other amenities that allow guests along the way to relax and unwind after a long day of golf. Breakfast is served directly in the villas and catered dinners are also available. The luxury of having the entire group in a home setting creates the perfect golf package for groups.

Courses / private clubs

With 54 golf courses there is something for every golfer. Famous designers like Donald Ross, Pete Dye, AW Tillinghast, Tom Bendelow and Stanley Thompson establish tradition on the trail. While modern designers like Brian Huntley, Dr. Michael Hurdzan and Dana Fry as well as Jack Nicklaus offer modern golf courses to delight golfers.

The trail offers golf courses for all golf levels. All golf courses are rated with 4 stars or more and each golf course offers golfers its own uniqueness. Pine Lakes Golf Club is the home course of the Penn Ohio Golf Trail. Pine Lakes was founded in 1926 and redesigned by Brian Huntley in 1998. The course mixes the mature conditions with a new layout.

Olde Stonewall in western Pennsylvania is rated as the number one public course in Pennsylvania. This challenging gem is unmatched for both beauty and difficulty. Boulder Creek, The Quarry, The Virtues, Little Mountain, Stonewater and Fowler’s Mill golf courses offer trail-goers the best golf courses in Ohio. Each of these courses is consistently listed in the top 10 states.

The story goes on

Hidden gems and local favorites allow trail golfers to experience golf courses that locals love. Yankee Run, Reserve Run, The Links at Firestone Farms, and Mill Creek are just a few courses in the Youngstown, Ohio area. In Canton, Ohio, the Sanctuary, Sable Creek, Raintree Golf and Event Center, Zoar Village and Chippewa are just a few. Western PA offers Oak Tree CC, Castle Hills, Whispering Woods, and Tam O’Shanter, and Painesville, Ohio presents Madison CC, Legend Lake CC, and St. Denis.

The trail also has exclusive booking rights for private country clubs for members only. Youngstown CC has hosted a Western Open and has hosted USGA qualifiers with Tippecanoe CC. Avalon Lakes and Avalon Squaw Creek are both former LPGA courses, and Trumbull CC and Avalon Buhl are traditional private club designs. Glenmoor CC and Shady Hollow CC in Canton and Quail Hollow in Painesville round off the Country Club courses.

Hotels and locations

In addition to the villas, Penn offers Ohio Golf Trail 20 different hotels in northeast Ohio and western Pennsylvania. The hotels are located so that golfers can explore the many areas of the trail, whether on one trip or over several years. The Youngstown / Warren / Sharon The area is the home base of the trail and has most of the hotels and courses. Last year the trail was expanded to Canton, Ohio, and Painesville, Ohio. Canton offers a unique opportunity for golfers as there are many great golf courses, three different hotel options, and the Pro Football Hall of Fame. Grove City, Pennsylvania, has some of the best shopping and great golf courses golfers can explore. Since the hotels are spread over the trail, there are limited travel times for courses in the respective region, which is important for every package.

A package for all golfers

The unique and wide range of accommodation and golf courses offers a package for all golf groups. Whether father and daughter on their first golf trip together, a bus trip for 100 golfers in a league or just friends putting together a Ryder Cup tournament – the Penn Ohio Golf Trail offers the package that meets all golfers’ needs. Each golf package is a bespoke experience that takes budget, handicaps and other important considerations into account when putting together a package.
