Bike to School Week is back from May 31st to June 4th! Join thousands of students and over 90 schools as they go to school, ride bikes, and scooter. Has your school registered? Check which schools are in your area have already registered and Put your school on the map!

Bike for school week is an annual celebration where HUB Cycling encourages students of all ages to ride a bike, roller or go to school. Students track their bike rides during the week and report their results to HUB Cycling at the end of the event to win great prizes.

High-performing schools with the most number of riders, the most number of bike tours and the best primary school each win a 2 coat hanger bike rack and installation for their school Urban racks.

The event also covers the third year Bike Reels Student Video Contest, where K-12 students from across Metro Vancouver are invited to submit a 60-90 second film about cycling and active travel in their community for great prizes, including mentoring at Vancouver Film Studios.

Climate change is a hot topic right now (as it should be!), And the city of Vancouver has ambitious goals for reducing carbon emissions. Bike to School Week is here to help. Not only can students cycling to school help reduce carbon emissions, but cycling has a host of other positive benefits too – such as improved physical health and greater social connections1.

During the pandemic, it’s still important to get outside and find safe ways to socialize. Encouraging students to ride bikes more often can be of great benefit.

In addition to the positive environmental and social benefits of active travel, schools register for the event to access our school travel tracking materials and prizes that provide incentives for cycling to school, such as: B. Bicycle accessories and Treats for students.

We also help teachers by providing pre-made lesson plans, email templates, and resources in our program Bike to School Week Guide. Bike to School Week is an opportunity to build community in such a challenging year, engage students in an environmentally friendly curriculum, and keep school culture alive.

Schools can Join Now bike to school for the week and visit our website for information on travel tracking and promoting the event website. As always, registration is free!
