Although the exact location of the summit is not yet known, the Swiss media point to InterContinental as the most likely hotel for Russian President Vladimir Putin and his US counterpart Joe Biden. In particular, the press stresses that this hotel is conveniently located near the Palace of Nations, home to the European headquarters of the United Nations, and that it has long welcomed various forums and important negotiations, including the 1985 summit between the then Soviet leader Mikhail Gorbachev and the late US President Ronald Reagan.

This means that representatives of the hotel management in Geneva and Swiss diplomats have kept quiet about a certain location and underlined that it is up to the Russian and US parties to choose a location.

On May 27, Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov refused to comment on reports on a possible location for the Putin-Biden summit in Geneva. He noted that “it can take place in any hotel or building” and added that “there has been no agreement with the US side about it.”

The Russian and American presidents are expected to hold their first face-to-face meeting in Geneva on June 16.
