The member of the Young Party is going back to the roots of his department to help the historically important village in Hebei Province make it even more attractive for travelers, report Wang Ru and Gao Yamei in Shijiazhuang.

When Hou Xiaobing first arrived in Lijiazhuang Village in 2019, he was surprised that the area had become a popular tourist destination thanks to its revolutionary history.

The hotel is not far from Xibaipo Village in Pingshan County, Hebei Province, where the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China settled during the War of Liberation (1946-49) against the Kuomintang regime before marching to Beijing in 1949. The same county also existed a revolutionary story in which the United Front Work Department was in the village at the time.

In 1959 the village split into four villages and moved to build the Gangnan Reservoir to protect the people who lived in the lower reaches of the Hutuo from flooding. Today’s Lijiazhuang village is the largest of the four villages and is located in the mountains near the reservoir with a good natural view.
