• Customers can transmit test and vaccination data easily and securely using Amadeus technology

MONTREAL, June 25, 2021 / CNW / – Air Canada is launching a trial of a new digital solution available through their mobile app to allow customers to securely scan, upload and review their COVID-19 test results. This function helps travelers to easily check compliance with official health travel regulations before arriving at the airport. air Canada developed its new solution with the support of Amadeus, one of the world’s leading travel technology companies. Initially available from June 29th for flights from Frankfurt to Toronto and Montreal, the airline plans to roll out the solution across its network later this summer until the results of the study are available and new features are rolled out to enable customers to pre-validate vaccination records as well.

“We pride ourselves on our part in resuming travel around the world to support government health protocols that protect passengers and protect local communities. Once fully implemented, this new Amadeus feature will make it easy for customers to securely submit their COVID messages -19 test results and vaccination logs for review prior to their flights. Pre-validating these documents will optimize the airport experience, one of many ways Air Canada is focused on enhancing the customer experience with touchless travel services, “said Mark Nasr, Senior Vice President, Products, Marketing, and E-Commerce. “This new service complements our Covid Information Hub with detailed information on travel requirements and tests at aircanada.com/covid19.”

For the Frankfurt Departure process begins June 29, 2021, the new mobile solution accepts COVID-19 PCR test results from Centogene Labs in Germany. The use of the new function by customers is optional. For users:

  • There is no need to download an application as a link to submit documents will be displayed on the Air Canada mobile app or mobile website upon check-in
  • Customers checking in on the go can securely submit their test results within 24 hours of departure by scanning a QR code of the Centogene laboratory test result.
  • Customers then receive a message confirming the test, which will allow them to pass through the airport and board their flight without having to prove the validity of their health documents
  • Customers must bring and keep their original documents with them for the duration of the trip.

The new feature is based on Amadeus Traveler ID, which automates document review for travelers to minimize queues. Functions for the administration of test results from other laboratories as well as vaccination protocols are introduced. To further support customers, the new solution also offers information on the legal entry requirements of the destination country. It is designed to be compatible with other health passport applications currently being developed around the world.
