MONTREAL – Air Canada announces that it will resume some flights to Jamaica, Mexico and Barbados from the beginning of May after Canadian airlines suspended all flights to sun destinations at the request of the federal government in January.

Air Canada will operate three weekly flights from Toronto to Mexico City starting May 3, and one weekly flight from Toronto to Kingston, Jamaica and Bridgetown, Barbados, starting May 5 and May 9, respectively.

The suspension of flights to solar destinations should last until April 30th.

Air Canada announced in its most recent call to win in February that the federal government would replace some quarantine measures for international travelers with a testing program at airports if the suspensions were to be lifted.

In addition to flights to destinations in the sun, Air Canada also suspended some routes to the US and other countries earlier this year due to low demand for travel.

The airline plans to restore some routes, including Vancouver – Tokyo from May 1, Toronto – Hong Kong from May 6, and Toronto – Bogota from May 7.
