USA: Airbnb and Tourism marketing company VISIT FLORIDA announced a partnership to launch a campaign to revitalize the Florida tourism industry.

The partnership includes a curated page of activities and stays for travelers, as well as social media ads and emails for residents of Florida and the neighboring states. Airbnb and VISIT FLORIDA will market to in-state travelers to achieve this attract small groups of family members and friends for local excursions.

Florida saw a drop in visitor numbers from 2019 to 2020, rising to around 44.3 million in the worst months of the pandemic.

The Airbnb and VISIT FLORIDA partnership aims to provide guests with safe vacation rental options while fostering collaboration with local governments and tourism agencies.

Viviana Jordan, Airbnb’s Florida public policy manager, said, “We are proud to be helping the return of safe and responsible travel to Florida, in turn helping small businesses and Floridians who rely on tourism. We hope this campaign inspires and encourages people to rediscover the amazing places and people across the state and look forward to continuing to work with VISIT FLORIDA to find innovative ways to support the tourism industry. “

Florida State Governor Ron DeSantis was criticized last year for handling the Covid-19 crisis after signing a 20-87 vacation home closure order in Florida to limit the spread of the virus. At the same time, it allowed “hotels, motels, inns, resorts, non-temporary public accommodation and time-share projects” to remain open across the state, with no capacity restrictions or social distancing measures in the early stages of the pandemic.
