Airbnb announced that Providing new resources to help guests with disabilities in finding and booking activities and accommodations that meet their needs. The latest resources have been added to the Airbnb winter version 2021 which offers a variety of features to protect and provide additional support to hosts and provide guests with an efficient approach to traveling and living on Airbnb.

The latest accessibility verification process allows hosts to submit photos of their home’s accessibility features for a team of Airbnb agents to review manually. This process is designed to provide guests with the information that can help them book accommodations that meet their needs.

With improved search filters, guests can now find their accommodations using filters such as barrier-free parking spaces and stepless access to bedrooms. The 13 updated search filters now also provide more details on the accessibility features.

The Executive Director of the Costa Rican Accessible Tourism Network (Red Costarricense de Turismo Accessible) Stephanie Sheehy stated:

The Costa Rica Tourism Accessible Network believes in the right to leisure and recreation for all, so our vision is that accessibility is the path to healthy coexistence, and we love the path Airbnb is working towards.

The Experiences accessibility resource allows guests to choose from 11 filters to localize experiences where hosts provide free access to access providers who help guests with disabilities, an activity without steps or stairs, or sign language. This resource also requires hosts to provide a detailed written description of all accessibility features designed to meet a range of sensory, communicative and mobility needs.
