ALGONA — The Algona baseball team picked up a 15-2 victory over St. Edmond on Monday.

The Gaels (6-12 overall) had 11 hits on the night, but weren’t able to come up with the big one when needed. The Bulldogs (8-13) out hit the Gaels only 13-11.

“We had five or six errors and we just can’t do that,” said St Edmond head coach Mike Szalat. “They had timely hits and they put themselves in position to score. So credit to them.”

For St Edmond, Hayden Derrig, Jackson Palmer, John Nemmers and Johnny Dickerson all had two hits. Nemmers and Landon Bartlett both drove in runs.

“After the game, we just told them we have to put this behind us and move forward,” Szalat said. “Hayden and Jackson had two hits each, and so did John and Johnny.

“We had quite a few guys hit the ball and almost had three guys per inning on base, but we didn’t cash in. Algona made the pitches and the plays to keep us in check.”

Algona’s Garrett Goche, Jensen Eischen, Aiden Ulrich and Reid Louwagie all had two hits.

Goche, Austin Steenhoek and Stren Crouch drove in two runs each. Carlos Gomez had three RBIs.

Miles Goche had one hit, one RBI and three runs. Eischen added an RBI and three runs.

St Edmond is back in action on Tuesday when they travel to Pocahontas Area (9-5). First pitch is set for 7:30 p.m
