Amarah Streiff hit a season high of 33 points to lead hosts Bishop Ludden to a 71-53 victory over Central Square in a girl’s non-league basketball game on Friday. It was the sixth win in a row for the Gaelic Knights.
It felt great to be at home.
“We traded with buckets at the beginning, which lowered our energy level a bit,” said Bishop Ludden coach Carm Petrera to change our schedule. After that, the girls’ effort changed completely and our body language looked better. “
Bishop Ludden had a 35-25 lead at halftime. Streiff had scored 17 of their 33 points in the first half. She now averages 27.3 points per game. Teammates Lauren Petrie 15 points added and Kaitlyn Kibling had 12 points in victory.
“The goal is to get better as a team every day,” added Petrera. “I tell my kids every game, this is our section finals, Regionals, States. You play like it’s your last and we become winners.
Jessalyn Tennant led Central Square with 17 points while Julia Mann scored 16 and Jalynn Robinson had 12th husband recently committed to the US Coast Guard.
