ANDERSON – Plans to build two new hotels in Anderson have been pushed ahead in hopes of opening within the next 18 months.

The Anderson Plan Commission unanimously voted on Tuesday at the request of the Amerilodge Group and New Born Logistics for a modified primary platform for properties east of the existing Fairfield Inn.

Both hotels will be four stories high, have 92 rooms and have parking spaces for 96 vehicles.

One hotel is said to be a Tru by Hilton and the second an Avid by IHG hotel.

Steve Aldridge of Amerilodge Group said the Anderson location was chosen because of its proximity to Hoosier Park Racing & Casino, the north side of Indianapolis, and the potential for future economic development.

He said they hope to lay the foundation by winter; The construction time is usually 14 to 18 months.

Tim Stires, associate director of Anderson’s community development division, said development requires a special exemption approved by the Anderson Board of Zoning Appeals.

Stires said the changed primary platform creates three properties for commercial development, with the two hotels occupying 5.2 of the 45.7 acres available.

The Urban Development Staff recommended that the modified main lot be approved for development as a Scatterfield Commons.

Steve Servies of Servies Engineering & Surveying said the properties will drain north into a retention pond near Interstate 69.

The lots were repurposed for business in 1994, the Fairfield Inn was built in 2019, and the 64th Street extension east of Scatterfield Road was completed about 10 years ago – and dead ends at the east end of the Sherwood Forest subdivision.

The property was originally intended to be part of The Farm baseball / softball training complex which was never developed.

The Amerilodge Group is based in Michigan.

Amerilodge has several hotels in Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio.
