DENVER, March 4, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Boom supersonicThe aerospace company that builds the world’s fastest, most sustainable commercial aircraft today announced a strategic investment from American Express Ventures. The funds will support the further development of Boom’s flagship product, the supersonic airliner overture.

Boom’s vision is to bring families, businesses and cultures closer together through supersonic travel and make the world dramatically more accessible

Overture is Boom’s 65-88 seat supersonic aircraft that runs on 100% sustainable aviation fuel. The supersonic aircraft is expected to hit the market in 2025 and begin commercial flights by 2029. Overture is based on the basic principles of speed, safety and sustainability and will fly twice as fast as conventional jets on more than 500 transocean routes worldwide. Boom currently has $ 6 billion when pre-ordering overture planes.

“We are proud that Amex Ventures shares our commitment to make the world more accessible by enabling sustainable supersonic travel for passengers everywhere,” he said Blake Scholl, Boom founder and CEO. “2021 is a pivotal year for Boom. As we prepare to fly our XB-1 supersonic demonstrator, we are also accelerating overture development.”

“Boom is building a supersonic passenger jet that will make traveling faster and more sustainable,” he said Harshul Sanghi, Global Head of Amex Ventures. “Travel has been an integral part of American Express ‘legacy and remains an integral part of our card members’ lifestyles. We are excited to support Boom’s development and invest in the future of travel.”

Boom was introduced last October XB-1, the world’s first independently developed supersonic jet and forerunner of the overture. The first flight of the XB-1 will be 100% climate neutral and should take place this year Mojave, California.
