SIOUX FALLS, SD (KELO) – KELOLAND may have fresh snow on the ground, but Hotel On Phillips in downtown Sioux Falls is preparing for spring.

In addition to the unique rooms and the bar in an old vault, guests of the Hotel On Phillips can now enjoy another special accommodation.

Bike rides on the trails in Sioux Falls.

“We see people show up at our facility. Especially last summer, last fall, when they brought their own bikes. And that is so great for people that we can offer something extra that they have forgotten their bikes at home. It gives them the opportunity to use what we have, ”said Phil Zea.

Front desk manager Phil Zea says although the program has only just started, guests have already used the bike rental and hit the trails.

“The bikes were only bought here a few weeks ago. Luckily the weather was favorable enough for us and we were able to get a few guests to take advantage of the fine weather and enjoy the bike paths that are so close to our hotel. “Said Zea.

There are currently 4 bikes available for rent from the hotel and more are being added.

According to regional director Dawn Koble, the rental includes a helmet and a water bottle. In the future, guests can also rent a tandem bike.

“With COVID last year, people are very anxious to go outside and get out of the house, enjoy activities that are safe, and we felt like with the bike program they can do where they can be out in the sun and enjoy all the wonderful things Sioux Falls has to offer, ”said Koble.

She says the idea for the program is in line with the hotel’s mission.

“It’s really about creating an experience for our guests. And because we’re so close to Falls Park and the 29 miles of bike paths and the greenway, we wanted to create an experience where we could rent bikes and various packages and things as add-ons for our guests, ”said Koble.

According to Koble, the bikes can currently only be rented by hotel guests. If demand increases in hot weather, the hotel plans to add more bikes for rent.
