Carnival Cruise Line announced that it has canceled some of its cruises in July 2021, but there is still hope that some ships will sail out of the US in July.

According to Carnival, there is a possible restart in the US in July on select ships from Florida and Texas.

There are three ships that will not be canceled for July including Carnival Vista and Carnival Breeze from Galveston and Carnival Horizon from Miami.

Carnival also said if there is an option to sail to Alaska, the Carnival Miracle will take over the sails for Carnival Freedom from Seattle.

All other cruises in July 2021 will be canceled until July 31, 2021. Guests booked on Sail wanting to create alternative summer vacation plans can cancel without penalty until May 31, 2021 and receive a full refund.

The cruise line is also offering guests the option to cancel now instead of waiting to see what happens. Guests who have booked on such crossings and wish to cancel without penalty can do so by May 31, 2021 and receive a full refund.

Christine Duffy, president of Carnival Cruise Line, said the line is still working with the CDC for a restart in July: “We continue to have constructive discussions with the CDC but have many questions that remain unanswered. We are working hard on them to resume sailing in the US and the US meet CDC guidelines. “

“We sincerely appreciate the continued patience and understanding of our guests and travel advisor partners and will provide additional information as soon as possible.”

Carnival, along with Norwegian Cruise Line, is canceling some, but not all, cruises in July. Unlike NCL, Carnival is holding ships back for a possible restart in the US.

Frank Del Rio, CEO of Norwegian Cruise Line Holdings, told investors last week that it was A restart in July for his company was “not possible”.

“The US launch in July is simply not possible, at least for our company,” admitted Del Rio.

“It was possible in early April when we proposed 100 percent vaccination to the CDC. So by April 5th, there would be 90 days in early July for this to be possible.”

What will Royal Caribbean do?

Royal Caribbean has yet to announce what it will do with July sailing out of the US.

Royal Caribbean rarely warns when a new series of cancellations will take place, but with Carnival and NCL both announcing additional cancellations for July, it appears that Royal Caribbean is on the verge of making a similar decision.

Of course, Royal Caribbean will be sailing a handful of ships from outside the US in July from places like Bermuda, Bahamas, Israel, Singapore, Cyprus and England.

The remaining ships and voyages planned for July have yet to be determined.
