Holland America Line from Carnival Corp. said she is postponing certain cruises scheduled for January through May 2022 through 2023 while planning to restart other voyages.

The shipping company announced on Wednesday that it is canceling certain cruises for Noordam, Oosterdam and Westerdam in Asia, Australia and New Zealand, as well as South America and Antarctica. The change of plan comes as cross-border restrictions remain in place worldwide, hampering the recovery of the cruise industry and the entire travel sector amid rising Covid-19 cases.

Customers for the canceled transatlantic crossing from Westerdam with a departure on April 18, 2022 will be on a comparable trip on Nieuw Statendam with a departure on the 17th.

Customers for Oosterdam’s canceled Australia and New Zealand voyages will be moved to the same itinerary on board Noordam in 2023, Holland America said. Customers for the canceled Westerdam South America and Antarctic voyages will be moved to the same itinerary on Oosterdam in 2023, the company said.

The company said customers can choose to receive a full refund.

At the same time, Holland America announced that it will be cruising an entire fleet again by late spring 2022. Noordam will restart Japan with a cruise on March 14, 2022; Oosterdam will cruise in the Mediterranean on May 1, 2022; and Westerdam will restart in Alaska on May 8, 2022.

“Our progressive rollout plan allows us to return to full service over the next few months, and we look forward to welcoming guests on all 11 ships cruising in different regions of the world,” said Gus Antorcha, President from Holland America Line.
