With the summer travel season approaching, Celestyal Cruises has confirmed that operations will resume on May 29th from Piraeus, Athens.

The line offers a seven-night idyllic Aegean route.

The start of the season was previously planned for the end of April.

The new resumption time is in line with the recently announced timetable by the Greek Ministry of Tourism to open Greece to tourism and cruises for the 2021 season.

The company will resume operations with the Celestyal Crystal to take advantage of its ideal size.

As more countries reopen with increasing demand, the company will in due course announce the deployment of the remaining fleet in 2021.

Until then, the Celestyal Crystal will use two embarkation ports, Piraeus and Lavrion in Athens, in order to be able to offer shorter, idyllic travel routes of three and four nights in addition to the seven overnight stays.

The shorter three- and four-day trips are made on a Wednesday from Lavrion and on a Saturday from Piraeus.

“We are extremely encouraged by the increasing global adoption and effectiveness of the vaccine and the positive feedback we have received from our partners and guests around the world,” said Chris Theophilides, CEO of Celestyal Cruises.

“We will continue to monitor positive progress in the healthy reopening of Greece and the cruise, and we will continue to work with European and Greek health authorities to ensure we continue to provide safe and responsible operations for our guests, crew and the communities we serve .

“Everyone at Celestyal is excited to be returning to sailing soon and adding to our award-winning, warm and welcoming Greek hospitality.”
