Chandigarh, February 20th

In order to promote films, songs and other filming in the city, UT’s tourism department has become a single point of contact for obtaining No-Objection Certification (NOC) from various departments.

To simplify procedures, a special Bollywood relief cell has been set up in the tourism department’s office to simplify the process of obtaining the NOC.

“Now the applicant no longer has to go to different departments to get the NOC. The applicant must send a duly completed application to the tourism department via email or WhatsApp, or can even drop it into a dropbox near the office entrance, ”said a department official.

He said the department would seek permission from various departments and forward it to the applicant. Before arriving in town, the applicant would have all permits on hand.

In order to bring all departments to one platform for issuing permits, the department is in the process of developing a portal, he said.

Previously, the applicant had to apply to various departments such as the police, administration and tourism for a permit. Now all the applicant has to do is submit the application to the tourism department, which will coordinate with other departments in obtaining the permit. As a planned city, the UT has become a popular filming location for Punjabi and Hindi films over the years.
