COBB COUNTY, Ga. – Cobb County’s Travel and Tourism Bureau estimates losses from Major League Baseball’s decision to move the Atlanta All-Star game to be in excess of $ 100 million.

“This event would have had a direct impact on our county and the state as visitors spend their dollars on local accommodations, transportation, entertainment and recreation, groceries and retail outlets across the county,” said Cobb County Travel and Tourism. “This would have been a big boost for Cobb companies and would have helped with recovery from the COVID-19 pandemic.”

The office said the 8,000+ hotel rooms that have been signed for the game and are now no longer needed are having a negative impact on the county’s hospitality industry and will further delay recovery from the pandemic.

“We are proud of the work that many community partners have done in planning the All-Star Game activities,” said the office. “We will continue to show who we are at Cobb, as always, through our reach, our customer service and our hard work.”
