Coco Gauff faced qualifier Leolia Jeanjean in the opening round of the US Open and the American was able to take the match 6-2 6-3.

It was a rather simple affair for Gauff, who looked sharp and healthy in her first match in New York. She suffered a minor injury in Cincinnati so fans were worried whether she would be able to recover in time for the event. Everything looked normal for Gauff who dominated the match.

Jeanjean made headlines earlier this year in Roland Garros with some impressive wins but she was no match here. Gauff took an early lead and then added another break to take a 5-2 lead and finish it off 6-2. Jeanjean was not able to hit through Gauff as she likes to do and the American had 17 winners in the first set.

The 2nd set was also quite impressive from Gauff because she faced more opposition from Jeanjean this time around. The French player was looking fairly solid in this one but Gauff added 15 more winners to take it 6-3. A superb display from Gauff who had 32 winners to 17 unforced errors.
