Simcoe County has approved 89 successful applications totaling more than $ 470,000 under the Tourism, Culture and Sports Grant Program 2021 to improve existing tourism, culture and sports projects across the county.

“We know how keen everyone is to get back to ‘normal’ as soon as it is safe, including our pre-eminent tourism, cultural and sports sectors, which have been hard hit by the COVID-19 pandemic,” said Warden George Cornell . “The council was pleased to transfer our 2020 funds so that we can award 89 grants and nurture local talent, entrepreneurs and organizations committed to developing regional tourism and improving our local communities.”

In 2020, the county received 99 applications for a total of nearly $ 1.1 million in financial assistance. However, due to COVID-19, the council decided in April 2020 to suspend the tourism, culture and sports grant and to apply the $ 300,000 allocated for 2020 to the 2021 financial framework, increasing the 2021 budget to $ 600,000. The county received a total of 104 applications for 2021, which requested $ 628,256.64. The council approved 89 applications for funding totaling $ 471,396.93. Through this grant program, the county supports and promotes tourism, culture and sport in the county of Simcoe through:

  • Investing in tourism, cultural and sports activities that increase awareness, access, participation and appreciation of the diverse, diverse offerings in County Simcoe. promote

The tourism, culture, and sports promotion program is the result of a merger between the Simcoe County Tourism Development Fund (SCTDF) and the Arts, Culture and Heritage (Built, Natural and Environmental) Grant, and is for communities, not for-profit organizations in Simcoe County.
