Couples working in different Malaysian states can now travel to meet their families

Starting today (Wednesday, January 27, 2021), distant marriage couples in Malaysia are allowed to travel across states to meet with their partners and families. The high-ranking minister (security cluster) Ismail Sabri Yaakob has announced.

In a press conference yesterday (Tuesday, January 26, 2021), Senior Minister Ismail Sabri said the move was based on advice from the Department of Health after locals working in different states complained from their partners and families.

These couples would need to obtain permission and approval from the Royal Malaysia Police before setting out on the trip.
