Cruise, the autonomous driving technology division of General Motors, hired Pereira O’Dell to carry out advertising work after the agency’s pitch.

According to Natalie Nymark, Pereira O’Dell’s West Coast director, the ad agency will be stepping up its work for Cruise over the next year, according to a recent post by. reported Ad age. An unnamed Cruise spokeswoman confirmed that she will partner with Pereira O’Dell in 2022, when the semi-autonomous tech company moves from R&D efforts to commercialization.

Cruise is working on the introduction of a self-driving ridesharing service. The service includes Cruise origin, a fully electric, driverless vehicle equipped with two opposite bench seats to accommodate passengers. There are also ceiling-mounted screens in the cabin of the vehicle that provide passengers with important information, such as the itinerary. Cruise presented the new driverless taxi from Cruise Origin in January of the 2020 calendar year.

Back in June, California approved an application Cruise enables Cruise to offer rides on the company’s autonomous prototypes to the public. The application does not allow Cruise to calculate the trips and the autonomous vehicles have to be remotely connected to a security operator. However, of the eight autonomous vehicle companies allowed to operate driverless vehicles on public roads in the Golden State, Cruise is the first to be allowed to offer public rides.

There are many competitors in this space including Argo AI (powered by Ford and Volkswagen), Waymo (powered by Alphabet), and Zoox (powered by Amazon). In addition to passenger transport, the technology is also being developed for freight transport.

As the GM authority already mentioned, production the first pre-production batch of Cruise Origin AVs that ramped up at GM’s pre-production operations center over the summer, with prototypes for testing and validation purposes. Tens of thousands of units are expected to be produced at GM Factory zero Plant (formerly Detroit-Hamtramck), with the start of series production in 2022 or 2023.

Cruise is considered one of the best funded automated driving companies in the world, valued at over $ 30 billion.
