Governor Andrew Cuomo announced a new tourism campaign for Upstate New York during a press conference at the New York State Fairgrounds on Monday.

“New York is not only reopening, we are re-imagining it,” Cuomo told reporters in Syracuse on Monday. “We’re coming back in a big way. Get your vaccination (and) enjoy New York State. “

The second phase of New York State’s international tourism advertising campaign, “Come Be a Part of It,” is spending $ 40 million to attract visitors to the beauty of Upstate New York.

“I’m a salesman for New York State. I believe in the products we have here in New York, ”said Cuomo. We have everything. We have the most advanced urban areas in the world, we have the most beautiful rural areas in the world, all right here in upstate New York, ”said Cuomo.

“Upstate New York was a hidden treasure. You know, you say New York internationally or nationally, people think New York City. No, no, no, this is part of our story. We have beautiful Upstate New York that has not yet been fully explored and discovered. I also think we have a chance because we have the lowest positivity rate in the nation, ”Cuomo continued. “Do you want to go away this summer? You travel safely and go to a place that you know is safe from Covid and that is New York State.

Cuomo said the state’s “I Love New York” program would look to funding locations like Syracuse, Niagara Falls, Alexandria Bay, Panama Rocks Scenic Park and Watkins Glen State Park to help boost the economy of the large area . The governor shared a first look at two commercials for the campaign featuring footage from the NYS Fair, Saratoga Race Course, Brewery Ommegang, and Lake Placid’s Cliffside Rollercoaster.
