the Ministry of Defense‘has a $ 374 million contract with Concur Technologies

The contract signed on Monday is expected to result in a new system called “MyTravel,” which will manage the full range of travel expenses and operations of the department through fiscal 2025. The system will replace the old Defense Travel System (DTS) which has received few user reviews and the department appears to be eager to replace according to the contract document.

“The government needs a secure, efficient and effective business travel solution to book trips, provide travel services, manage travel-related expenses and initiate travel-related financial transactions,” the contract said.

The system will cover trips around the globe, the document says. By replacing DTS with a software-as-a-service system, DOD hopes to maintain a modern system that will keep pace with technological changes. The DTS Office was established in 2006, but lately the system has been faced with bad reviews from users. The contract stated that DTS is an “old system that continues to incur technical debts due to poor usability, poor customer satisfaction and improper payment of travel entitlements”.

The system design was carried out by a cross-functional team from the CIO’s office and the now disbanded Chairman’s officededicated to increasing business efficiency.
