TYLER, Texas (KLTV) – Take a look around Downtown Tyler Square and discover history, urbanization and future construction Revitalization projects.
“We started looking for what we needed down here,” said Andy Bergfeld, president of Bergfeld Realty Company. A project in progress is this Thomas Hotel, for whom Bergfeld was the broker.
The owners, Andrew and Grace Cryer, are working to create a boutique hotel. “A hotel with a long tradition,” said Grace Cryer.
Grace is a fourth generation Tylerite.
“We are very happy to include our families in this project and to share our love for Tyler not only with Tylerites, but also with the visitors.”
The Thomas Hotel is named after several members of the Grace and Andrew family, including Grace’s great-grandfather Thomas Boyd Ramey, a founder of the hotel Texas Rose Festival.
“We definitely saw a need for a boutique, more like a high-end Tyler hotel,” said Grace Cryer.
Construction is ongoing and should be completed by May.
“A timeless look, but at the same time clean and comfortable and modern,” says Andrew Cryer.
“It’s going to be an eight bedroom hotel. They’re actually suites, so it’s not just a bedroom, so you have a living room and a kitchenette, and then there is a wall that separates the bedroom from the living room, ”said Grace Cryer.
The building is the old HG2 building, a 7,500 square foot building.
The goal is to give travelers and Tylerites a place.
“We hope to be there not only for hotel guests, but also for people in Tyler who want to come for happy hour or for a drink. Maybe afterwards they will meet Don Juans or Ricks on the pitch, so we look forward to serving this crowd too. “
Bergfeld said that Old Greyhound bus station is also in the works to create a nine-room boutique hotel due to open October 1st.
