The Ellis soccer team accumulated the most points in four seasons, winning 38-20 at the Summit on September 23.

It was the highest score for the undefeated Jaguars in 20 games, going back to a 44-6 win over North Davie in 2017.

The impressive performance included two touchdowns each for Connor Dixson and Elijah Chaffin. Ellis (4-0) was missing from Braxton Bowling so it was time for Elliott Gould to step up the rewind. Up to the task, Gould ran for Ellis’ other touchdown while the Jaguars led from start to finish.

“We noticed how fast he is in training,” said assistant coach Mike Dinkins of Gould. “We put him in with Braxton outside on Monday (at RB).”

Summit drew within 24-20 in the second half, but Ellis scored the final 14 points to win away.

“They threw the ball extremely well against us,” said Dinkins. “All three of her scores were on passes.”

Defensively, Chaffin and Dixson dominated the linebacker and Tate Helton and Max Cornatzer intercepted passes.

“Elijah and Connor played the best linebacker duo so far this year,” said Defensive Coordinator Kendall Chaffin. “Both had double-digit tackles.”

Notes: Ellis has won three out of four previous meetings against Summit. The only loss, 8-6, was at the previous meeting in 2019. … Quarterback Ethan Driver missed his third game with an injury. “We hope to get it back (this) week,” said Dinkins. … The South Davie game at North Davie was wet and has been postponed to September 27, which means that both teams will play two games in three days.
