Grand Prairie is getting more entertainment options

Great prairie, Tx. – Thursday, October 21, 2021, 10:00 a.m., the City of the Great Plains and its hotel, conference center and restaurant partners will break ground at EpicCentral, 2960 Epic Place, Grand Prairie. The 172-acre park is located in the heart of the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex on the George W. Bush Tollway (Highway 161) and Arkansas Lane.

The city is building two interconnected hotels with a joint conference center, six restaurant spaces, parking garage and realizing a water / light show on the lakes as well as interactive technology experiences on land. EpicCentral will highlight the family, friendly, and fun culture of Grand Prairie and offer exciting new dining and entertainment experiences.

Details about the projects:

Hotels, conference center. Great prairie will build two interconnected hotels with a conference center in EpicCentral, with the Hilton Garden Inn and Homewood Suites opening in 2023. Concord Hospitality offers construction development and procurement services. The Hilton Garden Inn offers 129 luxury rooms, an executive lounge, restaurant, pool, exercise room and business services. The Homewood Suites will offer 147 studio, one and two bedroom suites with full kitchens.

The conference center will have a 10,000 square meter ballroom that can accommodate up to 1,000 people. The ballrooms can be divided into five conference rooms plus an executive conference room with 10 seats on the other side of the room. The complex was designed by Merriman Anderson Architects and built by Arch-Con Corporation. The interiors will reflect the flora and fauna of the northern Texas prairie in tones of blues, greens, and whites with accents of orange and red.

Restaurant areas

The city is building six restaurant spaces, designed by Merriman Anderson Architects and built by Hill & Wilkinson Construction Management in EpicCentral to open in late 2022, and has negotiated terms with Milkshake Concepts to bring in Vidorra Cocina de Mexico; an American modern concept; Serious pizza, sliders, and shakes; and a new breakfast / brunch concept called Poach’d. Larry Lavine, the founder of Chili’s, will open Loop 9 BBQ in a fifth room. The city offers fun opportunities for the sixth restaurant area. This all runs north of Chicken N Pickle, features fresh farm produce and indoor and outdoor pickleball courts, and opens in December 2021.

The American modern restaurant will be an accessible neighborhood bar and restaurant suitable for all gatherings of life; a business lunch, a Happy hour Cocktail, an intimate meal or a relaxed place to eat and relax with friends. Its artisanal menu offers a variety of unique delicacies for every palate.

Vidorra Cocina de Mexico celebrates Mexican food, drink and culture. the Restaurant offers bold and exciting Mexican flavors, a one-of-a-kind cocktail program, a lively social experience and a rooftop terrace. Serious Eats has the infamous Serious Pizza, introducing Serious Sliders and Serious Shakes.

The restaurant area will have ample seating, a fully stocked bar and a live music stage facing both the interior and the lawn. Finally, Milkshake Concepts will introduce its new breakfast / brunch concept called Poach’d.

Walk 9 BBQ

Dallas entrepreneur Larry Lavine, who founded Chili’s in Dallas in 1975, and his partners will open Loop 9 BBQ in a fifth restaurant. Lavine helped launch Ten50 BBQ in Richardson in 2014. The Loop 9 dish tempts diners with a great barbecue, melt-in-the-mouth brisket, seared ends, pork ribs, beef ribs, sausages, pulled pork and fresh farm poultry. The fresh sides include hand-cut fries, delicious mac n ‘cheese, crispy coleslaw, hand-whipped onion rings, and grandma’s creamy potato salad. Handmade fresh fruit tarts and cobblers with a golden crust ensure a sweet end to every barbecue party.

The city offers fun opportunities for the sixth restaurant area.

Open space. Around the hotels and restaurants there is a large open space with a covered stage for events, concerts and programs.

Water / light show and land experiences

The city of Grand Prairie is working with Outside the Lines (OTL), 900lbs of Creative and End Design to design and manufacture creative and innovative placemaking attractions at EpicCentral, with construction starting in 2022 and opening in late 2022. OTL, a design-build specialty Construction company, creates unique water features, rock work and themed worlds. 900lbs is an interactive design agency that creates a variety of interactive initiatives and visual content to showcase the art of possible using an arsenal of cutting edge technology.

End Design is a leader in creating high quality custom designs and stunning products public art Installations .. The experiences are repeated daily and refreshed 3-4 times a year. Design concepts can incorporate technology, water, lighting, image projection, and other inventive ideas.

EpicCentral is also home to recreational facilities

Reflecting innovation and community investment, EpicCentral is also home to the Epic Waters Indoor Waterpark; The Summit leisure center for adults aged 50 and over; The epic arts, fitness and entertainment center; PlayGrand Adventures, an all-inclusive playground; Prairie Paws Adoption Center; Central Bark Dog Park; and the Grand Prairie Public Safety Building. Amenities include five lakes, a large lawn, boardwalk, and pad sites for future retail stores.

Chicken N Cucumber

The Chicken N Pickle will open south of the hotels at the end of 2021. Chicken N Pickle is the hugely popular indoor and outdoor pickleball entertainment complex. They also offer a variety of games, a casual, chef-run restaurant, and a sports bar. The 77,000 square foot venue will feature a dining room, six indoor pickleball courts, five outdoor pickleball courts (two covered) and 7,500 square feet of outdoor garden games. A large rooftop bar, stages for live performances, and the signature lawn games that Chicken N Pickle is known for. In this joint venture between the company and the City of the Great Plains, the city will own the land, develop the parking needs, and lease it to Chicken N Pickle. Chicken N Pickle will operate the facility.

More daring adventure

Additionally, Bolder Adventure indoor adventure park Groundbreaking at EpicCentral in August 2021. Bolder Adventure is an indoor family entertainment facility that will feature adventure-based attractions in a 66,000 square foot pneumatic dome structure. Guests are offered a unique opportunity to experience rock climbing, zip lines, via ferratas, high ropes courses, tubing slides, synthetic ice skating, adventure nets, and more. The venue is slated to open in the summer of 2022 and Grand Prairie would be the first nationwide location.
