Before the opening ceremony of Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav on Sunday, Union Tourism Minister Prahlad Patel said that West Bengal culture must be preserved.

Patel alleged attempts had been made to obstruct the Ministry of Tourism and Culture’s flagship festival, which is organized annually with the active participation of seven zonal cultural centers in the country. Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav has played a crucial role in bringing the vibrant culture of India to the masses, rather than being limited to auditoriums and galleries.

“For the first time, Rashtriya Sanskriti Mahotsav is being held in the North Bengal region. There are attempts to hinder it. We believe that West Bengal culture is the most important resource and must be preserved,” Patel told the media.
