Malaysia Minister for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Nancy Shukri, has announced that Genting Highlands, Melaka and Tioman Island will be the Travel bubble on Langkawi– and can be reopened for fully vaccinated visitors from October 1st, 2021. This was shared at a joint press conference with Senior Defense Minister Hishammuddin Hussein and Minister for Youth and Sport Ahmad Faizal Azumu on September 21 (Tuesday).
Minister Nancy said the above three sites will receive her approval tomorrow (September 22, 2021), after which she will bring the matter to Parliament.

Minister Nancy added that the Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) would also be refined and relevant to other travel destinations, including islands and “mainland” destinations. The refined SOPs would look into several things, such as the need for swab tests since the travel bubble covers a larger area like Langkawi that has many entry points.
