NEW DELHI :

Google announced on Monday the launch of a dedicated website that will provide demand trends to participants in the travel industry, including hotels, travel startups and booking agents. The website, called Travel Insights with Google, aims to help the sector better understand the backlog and leverage insights from key data-driven tools for businesses to position themselves for recovery.

These trends are based on user search data in the technology company’s search engine. The Destination Insights tool provides a clear picture of the main sources of demand for a travel destination and the destinations in countries that travelers want to visit most. Using this tool, companies in the industry can plan for a possible resumption of travel on specific routes and decide where to communicate with potential future travelers.

Over the same period, travelers in Maharashtra, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Delhi and Gujarat lead the search for accommodation. The tool also provides detailed insights into travel demand for individual regions, broken down by air travel demand and demand for accommodation.

The website also hosts the Travel Analytics Center. This is available to Google’s trading partners in the travel sector and allows these organizations to combine their own Google account details with broader Google demand data and insights for a clearer picture of how they manage their operations and find opportunities, potential To reach visitors.

“The pandemic has direct, immediate and ongoing effects on the travel industry. But it is also one of the industries that was at the forefront of digitization. Our Travel Insights with Google tool recognizes that, amid this volatility, it enables players to perform actionable analysis of travel intentions and sentiments domestically and internationally in real-time to make better, more agile decisions. We hope that the usefulness of this tool will also accelerate the digitization of those in the industry who operate offline, as online activation is now an essential requirement for recovery, ”said Roma Datta Chobey, Director – Travel, Google India.

The website will also be a focal point for other Google resources, including skills training courses through Grow with Google, Digital Garage and Google for Small Business, and the UN World Tourism Organization’s Tourism Acceleration Program.
