A new campaign from One Spartanburg called “Remember Your Favorites” Restaurant Pass was launched on Monday. It takes up the lack of tourism revenue during the pandemic. The hope now is that the locals will get out and remember their favorite restaurants. “It’s really a way to keep the vitality of the restaurants moving and positive, and really generate extra dollars to keep those restaurants open,” said Timothy Bush, Chief Tourism Development Office of One Spartanburg. Bush said spring is a popular time for businesses to hold conferences or travel in groups. However, during these visits, the pandemic was still a barrier to groups trying to hold events or conferences. Sparks Fire-Inspired Grill at the Spartanburg Marriott has felt the effects. “With the lack of business travel and the like, we’ve really seen an impact,” said Kristie Smith, sales and marketing director at Spartanburg Marriott. To help restaurants make up for lost business, One Spartanburg is printing the “Remember Your Favorites” restaurant pass. “Really cool idea and I’m absolutely for it,” said Joel Hocker, general manager of Dray Bar and Grill. “It’s good for Spartanburg.” The pass rewards people for eating in various independent restaurants in Spartanburg. After a certain number of visits, discounts are offered and prizes are given. To register, click here. Bush believes Spartanburg will remain a great place for conferences and group travel if independent restaurants stay alive. “When people come to Spartanburg, it’s about the experience and that’s what it’s really about,” Bush said.
