Community resources

Pennsylvanians must band together to fight COVID-19. We all must do our part to stop the virus.

As good neighbors, we want to protect our communities. Many of us likely know friends, family, co-workers, and others who do not realize that their actions and decisions have the power to stop the spread. Help us raise awareness in your community.

Share the COVID-19 facts

Don’t be afraid to talk about COVID-19. If we understand the virus, how it spreads and what we can do to stop it, we can defeat it. We need to share the facts with our neighbors so we all know how to stop the spread. And when and how we can get help when we know someone who has COVID-19.

There are many ways to share the facts about COVID-19 and the health and safety measures that can prevent the virus from spreading. Some ideas are:

  • Virtual events, meetings and presentations
  • Op-eds, blog posts or articles
  • Conversations with colleagues, neighbors, family and friends
  • Social media posts, graphics and videos
  • Placing signs in companies, workplaces, schools, places of worship or other places in the community

Most importantly, you can be a role model for others to learn what to do. You can show that you care by making good decisions and following health and safety precautions.

Be a partner

If you belong to any company or group involved in public outreach, you should join efforts to promote and share health and safety measures that can prevent the spread of COVID-19 in Pennsylvania. There are many ways your company can get involved, including:

  • Follow directions from the CDC and PA Department of Health
  • Include facts in your mailings and newsletters
  • Add information about your bills, invoices, and receipts
  • Hang signs and posters in your company or workplace
  • Talk to your partners, employees, customers and stakeholders

Become a contact tracer

Contact tracing is an important part of preventing the spread of diseases like COVID-19. Contact tracers follow the spread of the virus. They notify people when they may have been exposed to someone who tests positive for COVID-19.

The PA Department of Health is working with the Civilian Coronavirus Corps and other partners to improve our contact tracing ability across Pennsylvania. Visit the PA Department of Health website Learn more about how to get a paid job as a contact tracer or how your company can get involved.
