HAMILTON – Hannah Sempf of Columbia Falls won the Western A Classic Saturday and set a personal best in a meeting with a lot of bitter root flavor.

Hamilton’s boys finished 2-3-4-5-6 and won the team title with 20 points. Whitefish, led by Mason Genovese and Jacob Henson in seventh and eighth, and Landon Brown in 15th, finished second with 72. Columbia Falls came third with 98. Logan Peterson was 1st, leading the Wildcats.

Sempf won her race in 19 minutes, 38.1 seconds. Browning’s Kiara Iron Heart was second in the personal best of 19: 57.9 and Polson’s Ashtyn Wagner was third.

Corvallis fought Columbia Falls for the girls’ team title, 51-61. Hamilton finished third and Whitefish fourth.
