MISSOULA – Winter storm warnings were now issued for the Missoula and Bitterroot valleys until 7:00 p.m. Monday evening.

Snow rates of one inch per hour are possible under these warnings and additional accumulation under this time will be close to 2 to 5 inches.

This additional surge of moisture makes roads even more dangerous as snow and ice accumulations are to be expected.

In addition to dangerous road conditions, visibility is reduced when snow falls.

Drive carefully as driving conditions deteriorate quickly – especially under heavier snowbands.

From Monday evening to Tuesday afternoon it continues to snow all over western Montana.

Winter weather information is available.

Places like the HWY-83 corridor will re-accrue nearly 5 to 10 inches by Wednesday morning.

I-90 East Missoula to Bearmouth receives almost 2-4 ”.

HWY-200 Bonner and East will likely get 2-4 ”.

The Lookout Pass is expected to come closer to 5-10 inches while the valleys along the HWY-200 and I-90 corridors west of Missoula are expected to come closer to 2-5 inches.

Monday night the West Glacier and Flathead and Mission valleys will get closer to 2 to 4 inches below 4000 feet and 4 to 8 inches above 4000 feet.

Georgetown Lake will gain 1 to 4 inches on Monday night, but the surrounding mountains are likely to accumulate more than 10 inches over this period.

These winter weather warnings expire at different times. Be aware, however, that roads are the main threat from this blizzard.
