The review will take into account “the effectiveness of the increased infection control measures introduced by Singapore and the global situation at the time”.

The governments of Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) and Singapore have agreed to put the talks on the air traffic bubble (ATB) between the two countries on hold for the time being.

Both sides have agreed that, according to statements from both parties, a review of the further course of action could be carried out at the end of August.

A HKSAR government spokesman said today (July 20) that given the recent surge in confirmed cases in Singapore, the condition for the launch of the ATB could not be met for the time being.

The statement of Singapore’s Ministry of Transport mentioned “the recent surge in community cases and the imposition of Phase 2 (Elevated Warning) measures in Singapore by August 18, 2021”.

The review expected for the end of August 2021 will take into account “the effectiveness of the increased infection control measures introduced by Singapore and the global situation at the time”.
