Tehran – A huge tourism complex is being built in Pakdasht, near the Iranian capital, said Pakdash’s head of tourism.

The project is expected to create 330 jobs directly, added Asadollah Tajik.

The complex, which covers an area of 3,200 square meters, includes a traditional restaurant, traditional bathhouse, flower market, conference rooms, museums and residential units, the official said.

The project is expected to be completed within the next five years, he said.

He also noted that the establishment of such complexes could boost tourism in the area.

Perched on the lower slopes of the glorious, snow-capped Alborz Mountains, Tehran is far more than a chaotic jumble of concrete and crazy traffic covered in a miasm of air pollution. This is the dynamic heart of the nation and the place to get a grip on modern Iran and what its future is likely to be like.

The metropolis has many to offer its visitors, including the Golestan Palace, the Grand Bazaar, the Treasury of National Jewels, the Iranian National Museum, the Glass and Ceramics Museum, the Masoudieh Palace, the Sarkis Cathedral, the Tehran Museum of Contemporary Art and the Iranian Carpet Museum, to name a few.

The first time Tehran is mentioned in historical accounts is an 11th-century chronicle describing it as a small village north of Ray. It became the capital of the Seljuk Empire in the 11th century, but later declined with factional disputes between different parts of the city and the Mongol invasion of 1220.
