New Delhi: As the second wave of COVID-19 continues to wreak havoc across the country, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a meeting on Friday with prime ministers of high-exposure states on the coronavirus situation. If we work as a nation, there will be no shortage of resources, the prime minister claimed when dealing with heads of state.

PM Modi chaired a high-level meeting on the coronavirus situation and stated that Indian Railways and the Indian Air Force are being deployed to reduce transportation time for oxygen tankers.

While calling on states to work together to fight the pandemic with collective power, the Prime Minister said the greatest foundation for India’s success during the first wave of the pandemic was our joint efforts and strategy, and reiterated that we are united must face this challenge in the same way.

PM Modi pledged the full support of the center, adding that the union’s Department of Health is also in contact with the states and is closely monitoring the situation and providing the states with necessary advice from time to time.

PM Modi interacted with the prime ministers of 11 states and union territories to discuss the situation arising from the ongoing pandemic.

The Prime Minister also held a discussion on the oxygen shortage and assured the Prime Ministers that continuous efforts are being made to increase the oxygen supply.

The Prime Minister urged states to set up a high-level coordinating committee to transport oxygen to various hospitals in the state. This coordinating committee should ensure that once oxygen is allocated from the center, it can immediately deliver oxygen as required in various hospitals across the state.

PM Modi said the center is working on all possible options to reduce travel time and turnaround time for oxygen tankers.

He said Indian Railways and the Indian Air Force are being used to reduce the transportation time for oxygen tankers.

With several states pointing to a lack of medical oxygen, the prime minister informed the prime minister that he had chaired an oxygen supply meeting yesterday and will attend a meeting today to discuss all ways to increase oxygen supply.
