The Macau Tourism Institute (IFT) has established a Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macau Greater Bay Area Tourism Education Center at Shunde Vocational and Technical College in Foshan, Guangdong.

According to IFT, the center aims to take advantage of tourism education and tourism development training in Macau and fully integrate tourism education resources in the Greater Bay Area to nurture train tourism talents in the area.

This collaborative project is intended as a training base for integrating teacher training, talent training, building training bases and developing the service industry through industry training, exchanges and visits, as well as qualification certification, and helps Shunde students train in high-end international hotels in Macau.

The center will initially advance with two programs, namely the Macau Vocational Skills Recognition Standard (MORS) and a Cantonese and Macau Cuisine Chef program.

MORS is a professional skills certification system developed by the IFT in 2001 with the support of experts from the European Union that includes training and certification work for up to 16 positions in the tourism industry.

The first phase of the program included a front desk instructor training class that included 24 professional teachers from high school, secondary school and some well-known hotel and tourism companies in Shunde.
