Shidler College of Business Dean Vance Roley signs a letter of intent with Hiroshi Kuroda, Regional Manager of Japan Airlines, Hawaii region

A new partnership aims to improve collaboration opportunities for the university with a focus on human resource development through innovation Hawaii with Mānoa students. The Shidler College of Business and Japan Airlines Co., Ltd. (JAL) signed a letter of intent on Tuesday July 20th at a ceremony at UH Mānoa.

UH and JAL will work together in a variety of areas, including non-tourist sectors, to solve social problems in the islands, including environmental concerns and achieving sustainable development goals for attractiveness and value Hawaii to create a sustainable society that can be passed on to future generations.

  • Establish a pilot program considering commercialization to solve social problems or add customer value
  • Implement a travel-centric mobile app and do collaborative research on database marketing and marketing

  • Establish a human resource development internship program at UH to offer internship opportunities to students in various JAL offices in the United States (JAL Hawaii Branch Office and Silicon Valley Investment and Innovation Group) and Japan (JAL Innovation Lab)
