Gun crime: Orange Place

Detectives and agents from the Ohio Bureau of Investigation (BCI) continued to work on a case of a Shoot January 23 Six days later, a man remained in the hospital with serious injuries.

The 24-year-old victim was first taken to Ahuja Medical Center by friends after the suspect showed up at Extended Stay North around 1:40 a.m., allegedly broke or shot himself through the main doors and then started shooting on the third floor of the house the hotel.

The victim was quickly taken by Ahuja to the main campus of the University Hospitals in Cleveland, where he remained in the surgical intensive care unit on Jan. 29 without a condition report being released.

An unfired bullet was found in his clothes in Ahuja and handed over to the police.

A pistol was later salvaged in Moreland Hillsalthough it may have been used in retaliation for the first few shots, based on various calibers of bullets found at the scene.

The suspect has been described as a black man with dreadlocks who may have driven a gray or silver 2005 Nissan Murano. Police checked a driver and vehicle with similar descriptions that stopped outside the Beachwood Inn (formerly Super 8) about an hour after the shooting.

Police also checked vehicles for possible games as far as North Canton, Lorain, North Olmsted and Westlake after the shooting.

Seat Belt Act, improper or fictitious license plates preventing official business: Orange Place, Harvard Road, Interstate 271

A patrolman spotted a man and woman in front of them who were not wearing seat belts in an older model dark green Honda CRV at around 10:30 a.m. on Jan. 24 near the former Bahama Breeze restaurant.

A review of the temporary tag in the window was returned to Carvana LLC with an expiration date of January 1, 2001.

When the officer stopped on the ramp on Harvard Road to southern I-271, then got out of his cruiser and approached the car, the driver sped away.

The officer did not pursue and later inquired with Carvana employees who did not believe the dealership had actually issued the label. An investigator from the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles was also contacted.

Speeding, false or fictional signs, suspension driving, arrest warrant (declined): Park Avenue

A 22-year-old man with addresses in Cleveland and Columbus was stopped in a 25 mph zone near the Asian Bibibop Grill in Pinecrest at around 10 p.m. on Jan. 21. Police then learned that the license plate on the red 2006 Pontiac G-6 reverted to a 2008 gray Saturn.

Police later found a full extradition warrant from Ashland for the driver and planned to transfer custody to Medina.

At that point, the driver’s mother – who was registered with one of the cars in question – called the police to say that the warrant was fabricated and that the son had the same name as his father, who is known to be the one His son’s staff gives information to the police in an emergency.

This left both authorities at a loss, and Ashland police requested a dash cam video of the current suspect that they could later review.

The man was cited on the new charges and was courtesy driven to his Cleveland home.

Disregarding behavior (drunkenness), arrest warrant (rejected): Orange Place

A south patrol officer noticed a 23-year-old Cleveland woman walking in the same direction but in the middle of the north lane while on the phone at around 7:20 p.m. on Jan. 20 near Slyman’s restaurant.

The woman was so outraged that she threw a bottle at the cruiser as it approached her, although she apologized when the passing sergeant checked her welfare. She seemed drunk and said she had been drinking in a hotel and was going to Cleveland now.

Police also found a pending arrest warrant from the Cuyahoga County Sheriff’s Office. After the suspect was searched for weapons by a Bentleyville policewoman before being transported downtown, he notified officers that she had COVID-19.

The prisoners’ transfer was canceled and the village quoted them. She was then courtesy driven to her home in Cleveland’s Hough neighborhood.
