Actually, AAA expects around 53.4 million People travel for Thanksgiving, the highest increase in a year since 2005.

Officials at Gerald R. Ford International are preparing for the big crowds this Christmas season. Stephen Clark of GRR said he would like passengers to plan ahead.

“Obviously, vacation travel is a different animal,” said Clark. “There are a lot of people who have not traveled or maybe only travel on vacation.”

Clark added, “This year, of course, with the pandemic, there are people who haven’t traveled for two or three years. So most of all we ask people to be patient … Second, we ask you all to pack your mask and bring it with you. “

Clark repeated masks are required once you are at the airport and on your flight regardless of vaccination status. He also said that you should take extra time before your flight.

The rule of thumb is to arrive 90 minutes before departure.

Clark also discussed United Airlines editing service at Kalamazoo and Lansing Airports. Clark said it was a sad day every time a community loses air traffic. He said that talks with United regarding Gerald R. Ford were about growth, not cuts.
