TOPEKA, Kan. (WIBW) – KanDrive, KDOT’s travel information website, now offers additional functions with which drivers can plan their routes.

The Kansas Department of Transportation says new features have been added to their travel information website. KanDriveto give drivers more resources for planning their travel routes and information about current road conditions.

KDOT said after logging into KanDrive accounts, drivers can now do the following:

  • Select the preferred live traffic camera views to always be shown.
  • View travel time and directions for custom routes.
  • Schedule travel time warnings for saved routes.
  • Search for information by highway route, pre-defined area or draw a custom search area

“KanDrive is a valuable resource for all motorists,” said KDOT Secretary Julie Lorenz. “By creating a free KanDrive account, users can quickly access lane information and make informed travel decisions to keep Kansas moving.”

According to KDOT, drivers rely on KanDrive year round but have proven to be an important tool in extreme winter weather. It is said that nearly 216,000 drivers used the site approximately 460,000 times from January 10 through February 17.

According to KDOT, KanDrive is a one-stop shop for highway and travel information available on computers and smartphones. The impact on traffic is updated around the clock on maintenance and construction activities, winter road conditions, flooded roads, accidents and incidents affecting traffic and closed motorways. It is also said that a utility vehicle mode is available, which focuses on busy routes, weigh stations and rest areas.
