Long Beach is offering residents receiving a coronavirus vaccine the option to win a Nintendo Switch or a two-night stay at a local hotel, officials said Monday.

In the city’s latest vaccination incentive program, people who receive their first dose of Pfizer or Moderna vaccine, or their only dose of Johnson & Johnson / Janssen vaccine by Saturday at a city-operated vaccination site, will be automatically entered into a drawing at the choice of one of the two prizes to be won.

For anyone under the age of 18, the consent of a parent or legal guardian is required.

“We will continue to provide incentives and new ideas to vaccinate residents,” said Mayor Robert Garcia. “We continue to vaccinate people every day, and these drawings are another way of reaching different populations.”

Participating hotels include the Hilton Long Beach, the Marriott Long Beach, the Hotel Maya, the Golden Sails Hotel, the Westin Long Beach, the Renaissance Long Beach Hotel, and the Staybridge Suites Long Beach Airport.

Draws take place daily and winners will be notified by phone and / or email. Prize prizes can be picked up or sent by post.

Last week the city offered two free tickets to the Aquarium of the Pacific to anyone who received their first COVID-19 vaccine. This incentive expired on Saturday.

Long Beach, which has its own health department, has reported a total of 53,223 cases of COVID-19. The city has also recorded 934 deaths from the virus. This is evident from numbers released on Monday, which include data from Friday.
