I urge you to vote “yes” to measure 18-120. because I can not.

I live in Siskiyou County, but I am very committed to promoting the natural resources of our Klamath Basin through seasonal tourism. This evaluation of accommodation proposed for Klamath County is very similar to the evaluation that the accommodation establishments in Siskiyou County initiated a few years ago to encourage stagnating, almost non-existent funding from other sources.

The self-rated funds it has generated for Discover Siskiyou and our underutilized region are pretty impressive. I am a board member of the Volcanic Legacy Community Partnership, the Collier Interpretation and Information Center, the Dorris Lions Club, the Ore-Cal Council on Resource Conservation and Development, the Siskiyou Media Council, and the Butte Valley Dream Builders Group. to name a few.

Working closely with Discover Klamath’s Jim Chadderdon and his team, I can assure you that your advocates have done their homework on the matter and want only the best for our region’s economic growth. DK is fighting for every dollar they get through Jim’s persistent efforts and they cannot / cannot compete with the other side of your state.

It’s extremely frustrating for a professional of his caliber and he bangs his head against the proverbial wall to market our nationally recognized assets.

This election measure will stimulate our tourism economy with external dollars. The positive effects will be seen and felt in all businesses that target tourists. The Siskiyou County Accommodation Establishments evaluated themselves before founding Discover Siskiyou. Using this example, Discover Klamath has conducted other research and comparisons.

Trust me, this is a win-win situation for everyone involved. Please, I urge you to vote “yes” to your Klamath County Measure 18-120. It is a responsible endeavor suggested by your target marketing organization Discover Klamath and all of their elected and unelected supporters.
