SIOUX CITY, Iowa (KCAU) – The Lewis and Clark Interpretive Center’s Director of Education is recognized by the state.

According to a publication, Sara Olson won the Iowa Tourism Award for Outstanding Single Conductor (Metro). The award recognizes how the recipient supports Iowa tourism and how they use creativity to overcome challenges. Recipients must also demonstrate how they are using technology to reach new markets and how they are supporting Iowa tourism as a whole.

The center said Olson overcame obstacles by creating a virtual tour for the classroom, acquiring skills that allow the center to stream programs on social media and on the website, and recording programs and activities for children that were in public media can be shared.

Olson received the award during the Iowa Tourism Awards Luncheon on April 28 at the Iowa Tourism Conference in Des Moines.
